In support of the Departmentís philosophy of Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving (COPPS), the City has been split up into five (5) geographical
areas, each area being the responsibility of a Patrol Sergeant. The sergeants routinely contact Neighborhood Watch captains, apartment managers and other
citizens in their area in an effort to address any problems.
At the recommendation of the sergeants, police officers have been assigned to a sergeant and their "Area of Responsibility". This provides a "team" concept
in our efforts to work with the community and to ensure that problems are properly identified and resolved.
